about latressa

Latressa Fulton is a social engagement consultant and wellness practitioner with a community focus. She creates impactful experiences that educate and empower participants to better care for themselves and their communities. Through partnerships between local businesses and institutions, Latressa helps residents create functional, accessible health practices so they can learn, grown, and thrive where they live.

Latressa is the founder of Move and Groove Yoga™, a community wellness offering that builds community through events focusing on music, movement and mindfulness practices. Her partner, yogi Courtney Liddell, and Latressa created the program to bring together elements of art, culture, and wellness to create instructive experiences with beneficial health benefits for participants. The initiative hosts monthly yoga sessions accompanied by live jazz musicians at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, as well as private events. The program’s goal is to help urban residents create spaces where they can expand their minds while appreciating and honoring their environments. Last year, Move and Groove Yoga™ hosted Harlem Reset, an afternoon of wellness, mediation, and yoga practice accompanied by a live harpist and presented free of charge to the community at the Harlem Parish. Most recently, through a collaboration with Public Records, Breaking Bread and the National Jazz Museum, Move and Groove Yoga’s Harmony Wellness initiative fundraised and delivered food kits to 80 Jazz Musicians who’s employment were impacted by COVID-19.

Although her educational foundation is in STEM, Latressa was drawn to public health, wellness, and community development from the onset of her professional life. She currently serves as Senior Advisor to the CIO/EVP of New York City Housing Authority. Latressa holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a MPH in Health Policy and Management from the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Her volunteer commitments include Amplify Her Foundation, New York Women’s Foundation,  Girls Who Code and the Advisory Board of the Makuu Black Cultural Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
